Commitment to School Success breeds debate

The auditorium of the Science and Technology Park of São Miguel received, on Monday, the II Conference “Commitment to School Success”, under the Community Intervention Partnership (PIC) - School, Family, Community.

At the opening session, Avelino Meneses, Regional Secretary for Education and Culture, stated that the now-known results of the external evaluation of the 9th grade finals and secondary education “certify” the “relatively positive” path of policies promoting school success in the Azores.

At that moment, Andreia Cardoso, Regional Secretariat for Social Solidarity and José Ornelas, Coordinator of the PIC Partnership, were also present, with an intervention on the theme “PIC a partnership of commitments for educational success”.

The event featured several personalities responsible for discussing topics such as student profile, the future and state of education, how to build educational success, new collaborative leaderships for the integration of educational policies and practices, among others.

About 270 participants were also presented the results of the PIC Partnership for 2018/2019, as well as shared feedback from the work done by the Escola Secundária de Lagoa, EBS Povoação, EBS Armando Côrtes-Rodrigues, EBS Nordeste and Atouguia Group. Peniche, main victories and challenges.

This II Conference was also attended by Guilherme d'Oliveira Martins, Administrator of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and Maria Emília Santos, President of the National Education Council.
