Nonagon receives 27th edition of MRMI course

Nonagon – Science and Technology Park of São Miguel received, on 5th, 6th and 7h of May, the 27th edition of the MRMI – Medical Response to Major Incidents course.

The first day gathered around 131 trainees and 15 entities in the auditorium Tesarac, where they had the opportunity to know the main goals of the course, its dynamics and the trainers that were going to guide them during the three days.

The first day also featured an opening session, attended by the President of the Regional Government of the Azores, José Manuel Bolieiro, the Regional Secretary for Health and Sports, Mónica Seidi, the Secretary for Health and Civil Protection of Madeira, Pedro Ramos, the Vice President of the Municipality of Lagoa, Frederico Sousa, the Chairman of the MRMI National Board, Luís Vale, and the Course Director, Ana Madruga.

During that moment, the President of the Board of Directors of the Nonagon Association, Teresa Ferreira, received a gift from the MRMI as a way to show gratitude for her collaboration in hosting and promoting this course at Nonagon facilities.

On the second and third days of the course, multiple simulations of major incidents happened in the square of the Science and Technology Park, passing through every step of the process.

This course aims to prepare and train all Civil Protection agents in the Azores for catastrophic situations, from health professionals, specialists from the regional Civil Protection service, military forces, firefighters, public security police, GNR, psychologists and communication advisors.
