This morning, the Science and Technology Park of São Miguel received the presentation of MILKFIBRE - the first Research and Development (R&D) Nucleus in a business context in the Azores.

Fernando Cunha, Fibrenamics' Executive Director, was responsible for the opening of this ceremony, after which the technical presentation of the project was made by Research Enginner, Raquel Galante, and by INOVA's Scientific Director, João Carlos Nunes.

After the presentation, it was time for the Coordinator of the Fibernamics Platform, Raul Fangueiro, to share some words of contentment for the creation of this consortium whose main objective is to carry out various research and development activities that allow obtaining new knowledge and skills in innovative domains and generators of added value for products and services in the Region.

MILKFIBRE's presentation ended with the intervention of the Regional Secretary for the Sea, Science and Technology, Gui Meneses, who emphasized the importance of creating this Center for the development of the Region.

The R&D Center, constituted by Fibrenamics Azpres, through the company CIMPA, based in the Science and Technology Park of São Miguel and INOVA - Institute of Technological Innovation of the Azores, was born from the will of both promoters, with the Regional Directorate for Science and Technology, share competences in areas of mutual interest and promote various intelligence interactions, with the aim of developing new competences and exploring new markets, in this case from milk protein, namely milk fiber.
