European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, Carlos Moedas, is visiting the Azores and was this morning in the Science and Technology Park of São Miguel.
Carlos Moedas and his entourage were welcomed by the President of the Nonagon Association Board of Directors, Arnaldo Machado, the Vice-President, Teresa Ferreira, the Regional Secretary of the Sea, Science and Technology, Gui Meneses, the Regional Director of Science and Technology, Bruno Pacheco and the Mayor of Lagoa, Cristina Calisto.
After the reception, the mission and objectives of the Nonagon Association, Terinov, AIR Center, Azores ISLP and FORWARD Project were presented.
The European Commissioner then visited the facilities of the São Miguel Science and Technology Park, interacting and getting to know the projects of some of the resident companies.
With the presence of the European Commissioner, Carlos Moedas, the Regional Secretary, Gui Meneses and the Rector of the University of the Azores, João Luís Gaspar, a meeting was held next at Expolab – Centro de Ciência Viva about the future of science in Europe and the role of the Azores.
At the invitation of the President of the Government, the European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation began yesterday a three-day visit to the Azores, an official visit that concludes the Science Roadmap that was promoted in various Portuguese regions and cities by this European official.
