This morning, NONAGON –Science and Technology Park of São Miguel received a visit from astronaut Danny Olivas, present in the Azores due to his participation in the International Conference on the Strategy of the Azores for Space.

Danny Olivas and his entourage were welcomed by the President of the Board of Directors of the Nonagon Association, Teresa Ferreira, and had the opportunity to learn about NONAGON's mission and strategic objectives, the main initiatives carried out and how the entity intends to promote its activity through future projects.

Danny Olivas' presence ended with a visit to the facilities of the Science and Technology Park of São Miguel, with interaction with some of the SMEs and start-ups located in this business community.

From 1998 to 2010, Olivas served as a United States astronaut and is a veteran of two spaceflights. Conducted a total of 5 spacewalks during the space shuttle missions, STS-117 and STS-128, to the International Space Station.
