The auditorium of NONAGON – São Miguel Science and Technology Park received the 2024 European Week for Safety and Health at Work celebrations, bringing together experts, workers, and employers to discuss the impact of digitalization and the challenges for occupational health.
During the opening session, the Regional Secretary for Youth, Housing, and Employment, Maria João Carreiro, emphasized the importance of adapting workplace practices to ensure safety in the digital era, particularly with advancements in artificial intelligence, digital platforms, and cybersecurity risks.
The seminar, organized by the Regional Labor Inspectorate (IRT), covered topics such as psychosocial risks and the impact of new technologies on the work environment. Notable speakers included Emília Telo, Coordinator of the National Focal Point for the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work.
Since 2020, 82 awareness campaigns addressing workplace safety and health have been conducted under IRT's preventive initiatives, involving 45,958 entities.
